Guide
Printing your painting
The files are made to be printed. Here is how to get the best result, and which file goes with which frame.
Pick the file that matches your frame
Each printable listing includes files in several ratios. Choose the ratio that matches your frame, so nothing is cropped. The exact ratios included are listed on each Etsy listing.
| Ratio | Frame sizes it fits |
|---|---|
| 2:3 | 4x6, 8x12, 12x18, 16x24, 20x30, 24x36 in |
| 3:4 | 6x8, 9x12, 12x16, 18x24 in |
| 4:5 | 8x10, 16x20 in |
| 5:7 | 5x7 in |
| 11:14 | 11x14 in |
The MMA posters go from 5x7 up to 24x36 in 2:3, 3:4, 4:5 and more.
Three ways to print
At home
Fine for smaller sizes. Use the printer's best quality setting and a matte photo or fine art paper. Let the ink dry before framing.
At a local print shop
The best choice for larger prints. Take the file on your phone or a USB stick, ask for a matte or giclée print, and tell them the size you want.
Online
Upload the file to an online printer, choose the size that matches the ratio, and have it posted to you. Many will frame it too.
Paper
These are oil paintings, so a matte paper with a little texture suits them best. Glossy paper shows reflections and makes the painting look like a photo.
Gallery wall sets
Each set comes with a hanging map PDF. Print the paintings, lay the frames on the floor in the same order as the map, then hang from the centre outwards.
